* The Collaborative Problem Solving®(CPS) approach is owned and developed by Think:Kids (www.thinkkids.org), a program based in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.

It can feel like the ones who are seemingly capable, yet exhibit behavioral challenges, are giving adults a hard time or manipulative or attention seeking. This can lead to frayed relationships, defiance, school refusal, adult/child power struggles, shame and blame.
At HBCC we help ADULTS gain insights into the limitations of motivational approaches as solutions to challenging behaviors.
By participating is one of our upcoming trainings or support offerings, you will be able to help those with behaviors who are the most complex and challenging, become their most functional, fulfilled, and authentic selves with proven steps on how to:
The truth is "kids do well if they can" and "compliance is about skill not will"
Collaborative Problem Solving®(CPS) is the backbone of HBCC that helps ADULTS look at the unsolved problems BEHIND the behavior, instead of trying to extinguish and control the behavior itself.
Helping the Behaviorally Challenging Child (HBCC) is the only non-profit in SoCal offering trainings and support in-person that is focused to help adults address challenging behavior through a Collaborative Problem Solving®(CPS) lens. Those Certified in Collaborative Problem Solving receive ongoing supervision from Think:Kids and are independent of MGH.

We are you!
You are raising an ADHD, ASD, AuDHD, anxious, 2e, neurodiverse child who may be bright & quirky, struggle academically or have intellectual challenges.
Either way, these children, youth and young adults are full of potential.
A neurological diagnosis isn't always needed to have complex behavioral concerns.
HBCC is committed to maximizing the potential of ALL children and improving the lives of the adults surrounding them. HBCC helps give a clear path to adults confidently teaching challenging children to meet expectations, follow rules, maximize their strengths, address their challenges and guide them toward shining at home, in school and with friends.
Through a Collaborative Problem Solving lens, HBCC helps adults build connection, produce calm, and bring back more lovable moments by introducing tools and support on how to produce an environment where children|adolescents|young adults feel understood and celebrated for their unique strengths and quirks to help them toward becoming their most authentic, fulfilled selves.
